The Regenstein Learning Campus
A new learning center that acts as an unconventional playground and nature laboratory
How Architecture Learns from Children
EcoBirdy’s upcycled kids furniture
The new Regenstein Learning Campus at the Chicago Botanic Garden proposes an unconventional kids playground for children that encourages discovery and open-ended exploration. Designed by Mikyoung Kim Design and Jacobs/Ryan Associates, the expansive stretch of manicured, undulating gardens incorporates outdoor fixtures that simulate what one might find in nature: waterways, grassy mounds, canopy-like passageways made from branches, and large, hollowed out logs over or through which to climb, consisting in elements that provide foundational experiences of interacting with the natural world. The Regenstein Learning Campus
