One Ocean
The well–being of our oceans is at stake, and perhaps never before has an environmental crisis leapt into our collective consciousness so abruptly. Images of marine life tangled in discarded fishing nets, marine birds choking on pieces of plastic, and the Great Pacific garbage patch were unthinkable a few years ago. Yet here they are, flooding our screens every day: a wake up call that unites cultures and classes, religions and races. This global alarm is just starting to give birth to effective solutions to save our One Ocean. This month our writers focus on some of the most interesting, along with stories of the creativity that the ocean, in it’s relentless mystery and wonder, has always inspired.
