Design for Kids

The idea of childhood as a time when kids were coddled at best and ignored at worst is long gone. For some time now, kids have been gaining respect as young members of our society who can and should contribute to the future. After all, they are the future—as has been so eloquently expressed by the young activists fighting for climate action. So how do we want the future to be? A good part of the answer lies in meeting the challenges of designing cities and schools; museums and playgrounds, which strike a balance between kids’ innate curiosity and the need to make safe spaces for their education and enjoyment. These will be the places that belong to them and where the future will be constructed.
