The difference between upper-medium and low classes is established through physical limits, derived from well-off social strata’s goal of preserving their own safety.

The book “Reducing Boundaries” delves into this aspect through the different elements involved in safety, from actors to the policies and tools used.

Emanuela Bonini Lessing, PhD in Design Sciences and Assistant Professor at the IUAV University of Venice; and Fabio Vanin, architect and urban planner, with a PhD in Urban Planning from the IUAV University of Venice, compile in this book the results of an international 4-year research project carried out in different geographical areas, among them Porto Alegre (Brazil), Brussels or Venice.
