Illya Azaroff is an architect and associate professor at the New York City College of Technology. He is an expert in disaster mitigation, resilience planning strategies, and building design with over 25-year experience. He is also founding principal of +LAB architect PLLC in New York where his team consults with city, state and federal agencies, and with foreign governments on building resilient capacity. He is cofounder of DfRR at the American Institute of Architects and has served as one of New York's representatives to national strategic council from 2015-2018. He currently advises on Houston 2020 Visions; the government of Dominica, for the Caribbean Kalinago territory to rebuild sustainably; and on Puerto Rico’s housing recovery guidelines.
